Discover the turquoise waters of one of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica with this wonderful hiking trip along the Celeste River in the Tenorio Volcano National Park.
We will start with the pick-up at 7:30 am at your hotel and head towards the Tenorio Volcano National Park, whose summit stands at a whopping 2600 feet high. Our journey from La Fortuna will take just one hour and a half.
On the slopes of the volcano, we will encounter the magnificent Celeste River, named for the intense blue color of its waters. Legend has it that when he finished painting the sky, God cleaned his brushes in this river which gave it a special turquoise blue color.
We will trek along a 4-mile route through dense forests until we reach the stunning Celeste Waterfall, the perfect place to take a selfie. Don't forget to bring your camera!
We will continue our journey by visiting the Blue Lagoon, a point where the river forms a natural lagoon that looks like something out of a fairy tale. The regulations of the National Park do not allow bathing, though we will be able to admire the splendor of the Celeste river from the viewpoint here.
At the end of the trail, we will find Los Teñideros, a place where this natural phenomenon that colors the turquoise river takes place and where we will discover how it gets its unique aspect. We then continue following the river before stopping for lunch. After lunch, we will return to our hotels in La Fortuna around 4:30 pm.
A good level of physical condition is required to take part in this activity.
