On this tour through the Cahuita National Park, we'll hike through the rainforest, visit the village and a banana plantation—an ideal route if you're arriving by cruise ship to Limón!
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from the Hernan Garron Salazar Cruise Terminal. Once we're all ready, we'll hop into a vehicle and head southeast. During an hour-long drive, we'll travel along picturesque roads through the villages of the region.
Upon arrival at Cahuita National Park, we'll lace up our shoes for an approximately 45-minute hike. As we go along, we'll tell you how this park protects one of the best-preserved stretches of coastline in the Costa Rican Caribbean. Its white sandy beaches stretch alongside the jungle, home to an impressive biodiversity.
During the hike, we'll discover the fauna that lives in the park, and we'll have the opportunity to see sloths with their characteristic slow pace, white-faced monkeys jumping through the branches and an abundance of tropical birds and iguanas—watch out for the treetops!
After immersing ourselves in this natural paradise, we'll head to the village of Cahuita. Here, you can refresh yourself with a drink and taste the local cuisine on your own in one of the many cafés and restaurants, where you can watch the world go by and take in the daily life of this Afro-Caribbean village.
We'll meet back up to go in search of a banana plantation, a fundamental fruit for the region's economy. We'll visit the fields where we'll learn about the process of planting, harvesting and exporting, as well as products such as cocoa. Lastly, in the souvenir shop, you'll be able to take away a little piece of this wonderful experience.
Finally, after a 5-hour tour, we'll take you back to the port. See you next time!
