The guide was able to help us spot the animals that were more visible in the dark, or those that were easily accessible while sleeping. But to see frogs and other animals like them, the night tour is recommended, as the clear sky and moonlight create a special atmosphere. It's not expensive, so I would recommend it as a way to fill an afternoon in Monteverde.
Our guide Mauricio was very friendly and gave us a lot of interesting information. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate; it rained a lot and prevented us from seeing more animals like sloths, snakes, and mammals. We did see many species of frogs, tarantulas, stick insects, and scorpions.
