Discover Monteverde’s hidden wildlife on a night hike through Oktari. Explore Costa Rica’s rainforest after dark and spot nocturnal animals in their element!
At the indicated time, we'll meet 200 m (656 ft) north of the Bon Appetit restaurant. From this point we'll begin our adventure through Oktari Monteverde, a private reserve located very close to the center of Santa Elena that offers an ideal environment to observe wildlife in the middle of nature. Let's go!
We'll begin our hike by entering a path surrounded by lush vegetation, where the atmosphere transforms as the sun goes down. During the tour, we'll cross natural trails without steps, with moss-covered surfaces, small springs and up to four bridges that will allow us to stop and observe the nocturnal fauna in their habitat.
Throughout the tour, we'll learn about the cloud forest ecosystem and its peculiar inhabitants: bioluminescent insects, tree frogs, armadillos and maybe even a sloth or kinkajou hiding in the branches—a real nighttime adventure!
Finally, we'll return to the starting point after a two-hour tour through the Costa Rican jungle.
